Network drive and Synology NAS server

Post by *LTN »

I'm running Win7 + TC 8.01. To my Nas server (Synology DS211) I have made a network drive (z: = \\192.168.1.104\Foldername) and to begin with it works fine.

My problem is that after a while (maybe because I have turned the Synology Nas off (restartet)) then the network drive changes - maybe to \\192.168.1.123\Foldername

This means the TC can no longer recognize the z: drive and I have to change (redefine) the network name in TC.

Is there any way I can avoid the address change of network drive?

Lars

yes, you can. I have it done myself.

Log in to your DSM (I am stuck at 3.1 as i have only a DS107+)
In the Configurationscreen go to System > Network.
At Netwerk Interface choose Manual Configuration instead of Automatic Configuration (DHCP).
For my netwerk I have chosen:
IP-adress 192.168.0.11
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

A look at the DSM 4.3 live demo:
Control Panel > System > Netwerk > tab: Network Interface
Choose - Use manual configuration.

In my router I have set the DHCP IP-addresses range to not include the IP-addresses I use for static IP-adresses.

If that is the only thing I need to do to get it to work then I'm almost embarresed that I could not figure this out myself.

So far it works with setting the Synology up with a manual IP-address. So if you don't hear from me again then it has solved my problem.

Thanks Henrie
