Deleting read only files

Post by *testo »

hi everybody
when im moving files from one disk to the other i have confirmation dialog window:
the following file is read only. do u still want to delete?
what the hell? making this option unchecked in option doesnt solve the problem. its make impossible to have unattended file operations. any solution to this?

cheers and thanks in advance

There is an option in
Configuration - Options - Misc
where you can turn this off.

Do you have write access to your ini file?

Are other made settings stored?

At which path is your wincmd.ini file located?

Are you using the Explorer delete method? If yes, you cannot turn off the confirmations.

It could also be the new delete method introduced with Windows Vista. You can turn it off via wincmd.ini:
VistaDelete=0

However, be warned that the old method is MUCH slower.

One last thing: If you use Ctrl+X/Ctrl+V and not F6, you will use the Explorer method.

If this isn't the case, please try with a fresh ini, there may be some other settings interfering. Start TC like this:
c:\totalcmd\totalcmd.exe /i=c:\totalcmd\test.ini

Then go to Configuration - Options - Misc and uncheck the "Confirm before overwriting/deleting read only files" and try again.

ok. if i use explorer ctrl x method its ok, no confirmation to delete read only files.
if i use new ini file its also ok. so the problem is inside ini file. i think the easiest way is to reconfigure again? do i have to make favorites again?

Could you port the [Configuration] section of that ini file here, or send it to support at ghisler dot com? Just make sure that you don't post any sensitive information.
