Purchasing Total Commander license Questions

Post by *ChowBoy »

I want to purchase a license for TC, but have some questions which I cannot find answers to on the website.

1. If I purchase a license now, will it only work on the beta, or will it also be usable on version 8.50 final when it is released?

2. Will I have to purchase a new license for future versions (i.e. 9.0, etc.) :?:

I think you can find your answer here, by Mr. Ghisler, the author of TC.

yeskky,

Thanks for the info. I wonder how I missed finding that? I saw where someone was saying the price was too steep in their currency, but I will gladly pay US$44.00 to register Total Commander after reading what Mr. Ghisler wrote. Fantastic program!

Its actually cheaper, compared to most (if not all) other major file manager players in the market.

When you do the comparison, check the prices of their lifetime licenses, not their yearly/per version/subscription prices.

One of my best purchases is TC. and I'm flat broke

Yeah I bought a license for three things around the same time (when I could finally afford them) :: TC, EmEditor, WinRar ...

Plus I think TC got delayed because there used to be a rule about not being able to use a "free" email account for TC's license... at the time I certainly wasn't going to pay for a server/email, or register an email somewhere aside from Hotmail,Gmail,Yahoo just for TC.

Makes some other comparable products seem outrageous when they want yearly or major-version purchased upgrades.

Interestingly (at least to me!) with EmEditor, I purchased v8 as I found a coupon online for ~30/35, for v8. Used that to upgrade to 9, and now we're on 11 or 12.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

I'm a registered user since 1999 and never had to pay a penny extra since then. We even had discounts and free plug-ins from time-to-time like the CD burner one.

That by itself says it all.

But to prove how brilliant and positively sensitive our author is on this matter I'll tell you this brief story...

When TC first made the move from being distributed from a floppy to a CD and out of sentimental reasons since I love this program and has been my valuable companion for years, I asked Christian how can I re-register my license on my name since I wanted the original CD this time as I said for sentimental reasons.

His reply... "since you are a registered user for a lifetime please spend that re-registration amount for charity".

Now, how can someone argue with that?! A humanitarian not just a programmer!

Go for the license, you won't regret it. Now, you know that your money is well spent for another reason too. Will be reaching someone with a sound soul and not something like a greedy corporation.
"My only reason for still using M$ Window$ as an OS is the existence of Total Commander!"
