TC hangs when clicking Alt+F7

Post by *noa.drach »

Hello,

I have been using TC for years and this is the first time I encounter a problem with it

Today, each time I try to start a search using Alt+F7 the TC hangs and I can only stop it by killing the process (I'm on windows 7)

I tried restarting my computer and it didn't work.

Any suggestions before I try to reinstall it?

Just a guess (using my crystal ball):
- You are using a TC version before TC 8.0.
- The last time you've closed the find files dialog, the dialog was placed on a meanwhile disconnected secondary screen.

If you update to TC 8.01 you will profit from the new default behavior:
SameScreenAsTC=1 Where to show dialog boxes on multiple monitors. Sum of:
1: Modal dialogs always on same screen as the main window
...
Reinstall wouldn't help until you also correct the saved position of the search dialog.

yes I am using 7.56 - I actually stopped looking for new versions a while ago - but i will give it a try.

Just to verify - if I already purchased a license - it should also work for 8.0 - right?

Oh - the second screen hint got me - I started having issues with the screen yesterday and I turned it off - turned it back on and found the search screen - problem solved!! :D

Right.

A: As soon as you are registered, (until further notice) all updates are free, provided that you get the latest version yourself by downloading it. This has been the case since version 1.0. Just install the new (Shareware) version over the old one. The only important thing is to keep the file wincmd.key.
