Remap key for selecting current file (swap SPACE/INS)

Post by *mbunkus »

Hey,

Is it possible to map keys to what the SPACE and INS keys normally do? Select/unselect the current file and and advancing downwards (in case of INS). I haven't found a corresponding action in the keyboard remap section in the "misc" configuration section.

The reason I want this feature that my laptops' (and even my desktop's) keyboards either only have INS in combination with some kind of FN key (so I need both hands in order to press INS) or have no INS key at all. For me switching the functionality behind SPACE and INS would fit the bill, but as I said, I couldn't find an action that allowed me to do it.

Thanks.

You can set parameter SpaceMovesDown to 1 in wincmd.ini, it will do what you want (mark file and move focus to next file with space).
Please read more in TOTALCMD.chm, section 4.b.

This will work for me, yes. Thanks.

Edit: tried it, works just as suggested.
