Beta 11 Not liking wincmd.key

Post by *phedlund »

I am having trouble with Beta 11 accepting my wincmd.key file.
I get the unregistered screen.
I took this key from my 8.01 directory and simply copied it to the B11 directory.
Do i need to get a new key?

OK. That seems to be the normal nag screen. It seems your wincmd.key file is not recognized. Please wait for Mr. Ghisler to respond or send him an email.

Hello, Phedlund.

Launch T.c. 8.50ß11.
Verify one more time that wincmd.key is in the programme folder of T.C. 8.50ß11.
Check which wincmd.ini T.C. 8.50ß11 uses. Help => About.
Open this wincmd.ini and search for occurences of the parameter KEYPATH.
If KEYPATH is not specified in wincmd.ini, the default path applies: %COMMANDER_PATH%. I.e. T.C. will look for wincmd.key in its own programme folder.
If KEYPATH is specified it should point to a readable folder where wincmd.key exists.
Check this, please, and report back.

Kind regards,
Karl

I have copied the wincmd.key file again.
The about box points to the wincmd.ini file that i edited
There was NO KEYPATH variable defined so i created it and its value is %commander_path%.

The Program still comes up as unregistered.

I will try to re-install b11 next.

Hm. And I was convinced that Total Commander performed a self check that should detect such things and refuse to run at all.

Anyway, glad you solved your problem.

There were a total of 9 bytes that were bad but it was enough and in the right spot to not like my license file. Computers, can't live with them, can earn a living with them.
