Suggestions for F5 copy dialog?
Unfortunately I had to remove the "Verify" function from F5 copy because it is too unreliable:
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=38338
I have tried to contact this user twice via e-mail (no, not a GMail address) without success. Other users couldn't help to resolve this problem either, so I had to remove the function.
The main reason for rearranging the F5 copy dialog was for this verify function. Without it, there is no more need for this extra space, but maybe people prefer to see more of the target path edit box. Therefore should I
1. Return to the copy dialog of TC 8.01, options button below
or
2. Keep the wide copy dialog with the options button on the right side?

The main problem is that I don't know whether the function is misbehaving (e.g. due to a virus scanner), or really finding a copy error. When a problem is found by a relatively small group of testers, it would probably cause much more troubles when included in the final version.
I want to release TC 8.5 in January or February, but this function probably needs much more time to work properly. That's why I wanted to postpone it to TC 9.0 or so.

The verify function has been requested many times and when it was introduced in the beta it was well received. I think the feature is useful and I will be using it from time to time.
Due to the bug when appending to a file and due to the lack of logging of successful verify operations, I have tested the verify feature quite a bit. Files sizes I tested varied from very small up to 450 megabytes. I did not encounter any unreliable behavior.
I suggest to move this topic to the main forum. I think it is to important to be "hidden" in the suggestions forum.

There is no need to move this topic elsewhere, it's discussed both on the bugs forum and in the suggestion forum.

Re: Suggestions for F5 copy dialog?
I agree with other users, it is important to back the option again.
Yes, first, it is better, second, if you have changed your opinion, you can back the option without needing to re-size the dialog.ghisler(Author) wrote:2. Keep the wide copy dialog with the options button on the right side?
Suggestion to fix small details:
Many people didn't like older TC 8.01 position of Options button (at the separate row below other buttons) but they liked even older TC 7 Options button position (at the unused space of dialog between fields; see screenshot). Nice unused space may be found at the right side of line above buttons.
Design suggestion:
Sob wrote:Just for current copy dialog (http://web.hisoftware.cz/sob/tc/copy-dialog.png): (1) is aligned correctly. Button (2) is too much to the right and it also does not align correctly to combo on the left. It's two pixels too hight in Classic theme and shifted up by one pixel in Aero. About the difference between the two, unfortunately it seems system is to blame, because the drawing size is a little different with and without themes. So +-1px is what we must live with. But in any case, moving it down by one pixel would help both. Then there are buttons with big space at right (3) aligned with (1) but on the left it's completely off (4). Label (5) could also use a little more width and I never got the big space below, it does not wrap or anything.
It is really not a good idea to place Options button at the Cancel button's place. From the other side, it wouldn't be a good idea to place it at the place of OK button.Sob wrote:And the Options button, find a "new home" for it somewhere else as discussed in other thread and problem solved.

Save images to disk and enter as archive to see files (it is CAB archive attached to image).
The question is: is it possible, that the source and the destination file are different, but the verification shows, that they are same? If not, verification may be restored safely.
