How to copy to multiple destinations

Post by *dekiblue »

I'm using TC for long time but just recently I found out that after pressing F5 to copy a file I can press F2 and put the files in a queue to be copied. Eureka!

Also I read somewhere that you can copy to multiple destinations at once but now I can't find anything about it in TC help file.

Is there any help file that has a list of this advanced features AND how to use them? Ghisler web site is very limited; I tried a few links in http://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/Tutorials but just got 404 error or page not found.

You almost got it already:
  • - after F5 and F2 the progress window for the queue appears

    - now you've got to be quick: click "Pause"

    - select all the files in the list that you want to be replicated in several targets (can be skipped if it's only file)

    - now press the little button labelled "+" in the lower left corner

    - choose "Add selected items for copying" and enter another target path in the appearing dialog

    - repeat adding additional targets until done, then click "Start"
At least that's how I do it. Maybe someone else knows of even more nifty ways?

Thanks for your reply.

If I remember correctly there was a way to copy for example directly from left to all the existing tabs on the right... Or that was just my immagination :?

If you have multiple folders or folder LNK files selected in target directory, you can simply press F5 and then in advanced options chose copy to all selected targets. So you can prepare some dirs with folder LNK files if you need to copy files to all of them frequently.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Thank you all for you replies.

Did you see my point, that there are some awesome features practically hidden from users.

I did not see in the main help file any mention of copying to multiple destination or on queuing.

Maybe I didn't search enough? :?:

Press F5, then F1, chose 'F5 Copy' topic,
When you select some directories and/or links in the target panel, there will be an option to copy to ALL these locations. This is done via background transfer manager.

dekiblue,
would you please change the title of this thread, eg to "How to copy to multiple destinations"?
Simply click on "edit" in your first post here and change the Subject line.

You know, it'll make finding it easier for other ppl with the same problem
... and it'll help me to remember what it was about, rather than only that I was interested in it for some reason (and hence maybe should check replies)... :)

Thanks,
meisl
