Office 2013 Unpack Query

Post by *harrismail »

I just wondered if anyone had an answer for this conundrum?

I have downloaded the Microsoft Office 2013 VL ISO and if I burn it to a CD/DVD it runs fine.

If I unpack the ISO with TC, all the files, folders and everything extract perfectly but when I double click on the setup.exe I get an error message saying:-

"The language of this installation package is not supported by your system"

How come running the ISO from the CD/DVD works - but not by extracting all the files to a folder?

Do you have enabled the option "Unpack path name if stord with files" at copy/unpack dialog.
This will copy the folder structure too.

Could it be that CD autostart runs a different exe than setup.exe?

Thanks for the tip Holger although that didn't shed any more light as it points to the setup.exe.

At least your suggestion was more useful than Silvas

You can compare CD contents with extracted folder in order to check if extraction was correct.

Also it may be setup.exe that can't work from folder but is for starting from root drive dir only.

However TC can't unpack ISO itself (only with plugins) so it is not a TC problem anyway.

Thats because your flaw has nothing to do with TC and second this aint a board to talk about pirated software. VL = Software for Schools and Enterprises....

And that makes it "pirated"? Every SA subscriber can download those ISOs from TechNet or the VL Service Center for deployment.
Please don't accuse people of piracy without proof or them making blatant requests for cracks, patches etc.

Maybe it happens when setup.exe isn't located in the root of the drive, but in a subfolder?
