Open Command Prompt Window - system variables PATH value

Post by *jw »

Hi!

If I modify the system variables PATH variable via the Windows Control Panel, it's value is not used by Total Commander until Total Commander is restarted. I often use the "Open Command Prompt Window" in the "Commands" menu, and although an existing window will not use the new value, I would expect a new window to use new value.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Regards,

The called command prompt is a child of Total Commander. Therefore, it inherits TC's current environment which doesn't include the newly set PATH variable. You still need to restart TC or to run a command prompt via Windows.
