Icons disappeared

Post by *J.A. Gruys »

Today all thumbnails to the left of the filenames have disappeared, or rather, have been replaced by a light blue square identical for all file types.

Yesterday I installed 8.51b4.

Are these facts connected? How do I get back the normal situation? Just waiting for beta2?

In 8.51b1 (that I kept working from an USB-stick) everything looks OK.

I think so. Icons, pictograms, or whatever the small symbols are called that are shown left of the file name. (I have the Dutch language version of TC, so I don't have available the correct English terms.)

I solved the problem partially by changing the icon size (or whatever it is called in English) from 32x32 to 24x24, but then everything becomes too small and compact for me. I prefer 32x32.

English language file is "installed" on default, you can easily switch on the fly.

And now even easier:

12.03.14 Release Total Commander 8.51 beta 3 (32/64)
12.03.14 Added: New internal command OPENLANGUAGEFILE WCMD_xyz.LNG to open specific LNG/MNU file pair from "language" subdir. Leave out parameter for internal language. Will not be added to .inc (32/64)

I don't think it is the same problem as MVV indicated, as the only way to correct, or rather to avoid, the problem is using a previous version of TC than the latest beta where it occurred, or to change the icon size.

Sob and I posted a link to bug report that applies to 8.51b4 and is connected with bad icons, you've installed 8.51b4 and write about wrong icons too. Screenshots look like you described, even broken icon size 32x32 is mentioned in that topic.

Yes, it's a known problem with 32x32 icons. You can enter 31x31 manually - this will work correctly, just not 32x32.

It will be fixed in beta 5.

Thank you very much, Mr. Ghisler. 31x31 was one thing I had not thought of. It worked as you said!

Thanks again,
