Save Search Results to Clipboard

The search feature is very comprehensive. Yet many times I'll like to work with the list of files it returns. If I search within ZIP files, then Feed-to-List-Box is not available. So there is no way to preserve the results, (other than a screen shot). It would be nice to simply be able to copy the search results listbox to the clipboard and take it from there.

Are your sure that what you suggest as a future feature is not already possible?

I just tried this:

• went to a folder holding 3 .7z archive files.
• pressed <Alt><F7>.
  Search for: places.sqlite (irrelevant, but I knew they were in the archives)
  Ticked [X] Search archives.
  Clicked [Start Search]
• T.C. found 3 hits, 1 in each archive file.
• Mark any of the filenames and press <Ctrl>C. - No visual or accoustic feedback!
• Opened a text editor and pressed <Ctrl>V.
• Now have a look at the list I found in my editor:

  Code: Select all

  Z:\host\Data\Backup\Daten\Windows\Firefox\Firefox_places.7z/places.sqlite
  Z:\host\Data\Backup\Daten\Windows\Firefox\Firefox_Places_karl.7z/places.sqlite
  Z:\host\Data\Backup\Daten\Windows\Firefox\Firefox_Places_Ubuntu.7z/places.sqlite

Is this what you have in mind?

Total Commander 8.51ß3 32-bit + 64-bit on
Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64-bit

Could it be the functionality is unreliable?
Try as I may, my own steps applied to real .ZIP files (not .7z like in my first example) refuse to work.
The clipboard remains empty.

No, it answer different from that:

Search results inside archives => Do not [Feed to listbox]
But simply click on any filename in the search result list.
Press <Ctrl>C. - No visiual feedback given!
Open editor, paste clipboard content in it by pressing <Ctrl>V.
There you are!

I have try you way. C+A / C-C doesn't work. But C+A and cm_CopyNamesToClip at least works

By the time you replied I had already corrected my initial steps:
Inside the search result box, pressing <Ctrl>C will copy all search result names into the clipboard.
Tested it several times.
It works.
No matter whether the search included or excluded archive files.

There is enough to press CTRL+C on search results. No need to press CTRL+A.

I have just tested. You are both right! It is working. But "Feed to Listbox" is working, too.

The T.C. help on the the search dialogue holds the appropriate explanation:

About [feed to listbox] and copying the list from there:

<Ctrl>A plus <Ctrl>C inside the [feed to listbox] list will only have the desired effect in case the found files are all located in regular folders, but not in case the results have been found inside an archive.
(This was the reason why I had to correct my initial reply.)

Yes, the above steps seem to work in 8.50. It's still just a little confusing that only one of the items is highlighted, but all are copied. Thanks to all that jumped in on this.
