Shift+down issue (doesn't select the initially focused file)

Post by *HAL 9000 »

I've got used to WinExplorer where you can select multiple files via Shift+(←/↑/→/↓).
The thing is when nothing is yet selected and you hit Shift+down - 2 files get selected: the one that was initially in focus and the one below.
But in TC the very same action selects only 1 file (the one below).
Is there a way to re-configure that behavior?

It's impossible to lead us astray for we don't care even to choose the way.

I confirm that only first file gets selected on Shift+Down, but I don't know is it a bug or by design.

Ovg
the issue I reported - has nothing to do with the cursor: try with keyboard only.

When using shift+mouse click on the file below focused one - it selects both files.

This is intentional, because Shift+down on an already selected file removes the selection. This wouldn't be possible if Shift+Down would select both.

sorry, I'm not sure what you meant:
why wouldn't that be possible? you could make that double selection work only for actually selection only, not deselection (selection removal).

If TC would select both files on the first Shift+down, the file under the cursor would then be selected, so the next Shift+down would remove its selection.

It seems this topic was discussed before:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=25394

After test, I found that:
TC "File window" & "Feed to listbox" selection behaviors are not consistent with "Connect to FTP server" & "Synchronize directories"

"Connect to FTP server" & "Synchronize directories" selection behavior is more like Windows Explorer.

I have used TC instead of Explorer for a long time, it is not necessary to me. But nice to have setting in the ini file for new user, similar to SpaceMovesDown.

Not only for a novice. In some cases I wold prefer just the behavior as in Windows Explorer, that is when "selecting" of already selected file will not remove the selection, but is ignored.
Surely it should apply to every selection case, not only to selecting by Shift+Down arrow.
