Will TC allow me to see as ordinary text characters the hexadecimal fields in an exported registry file?

For example
"Roots"=hex(7):43,3a,5c,44,6f,63,75

TC is a file manager, not document viewer. Internal viewer Lister supports simple formats, but if you want to do such conversions, you need corresponding plugin (I'm not sure such one exists).

This has nothing to do with Total Commander. But you could consider the advanced registry editor "Registry Workshop" for this application. Registry exports associated with the program or passed via command line, instead of being directly merged with the local system registry, are parsed and displayed in a treeview. You can call up the familiar binary value editor to see a hex/ascii display of "binary" values. The program can selectively merge keys afterwards. It also implements functions similar to a file manager for copying and moving keys around.

Like TC, Registry Workshop is a small and efficient program, and via three executable versions has compatibility from Windows 9x through, XP, Seven and Eight.
