Close the state when it is compressing.

Post by *yuyuxuan »

I compress 200GB files from several folders. And I want to close the computer before it finished the task for some reasons. How can I end the state?

I guess you want to resume the compression task? The only way would be to send the computer to hibernate or sleep. Anything else will kill the process.

Actually not, I only want to cancel it and leave resumption out of consideration. :D

...umm... just guessing... by pressing the "Cancel" or the little red "X" button on the upper right corner of the window...?

There are plenty of ways: kill the process, press Ctrl+Alt+Reset, unplug computer power cord or use big hammer.

Seriously, Cancel button in pack progress dialog should do it for you. Which packer do you use?

I use the “"C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe" -ibck”.
Acutally, Cancel button is useless because when I close the dialog, which shows "Files are being packed, please wait...", the dialog appears again. The main reason is that I compress several folders.

Do you pack each folder to separate archive? I think in such case TC begins packing next folder when previous packing process ends.

BTW I just tried it, with tray packing you should break operation via tray icon context menu.

You're welcome. :)

However it is strange why closing TC wait window doesn't terminate entire process too.
