Configure lister temp dir (to secure in crypted vitual drive

Post by *Hammillian7 »

In short, I request the feature to make the lister temp dir configurable, as now already is the zip file temp dir.

I haven't found this feature request in the forum. If it already is there, please excuse me and count my support fot the request.

Now, a longer explanation for my motivation:

Searching the forums for this subject, I've only found that my motivation for this feature seems to be somewhat solved by the TC wiping to 0's of the temporary file that it creates in the %TEMP% dir when listing an extracted file. That's a good help for security, but it has some weaknesses (for example, if TC is killed or a PC power failure occurs, the file remains there, visible).

I use to work with encrypted virtual drives. I used BestCrypt and TrueCrypt, but they use fixed size containers, not convenient for Dropbox syncing. Recently, I'm using Boxcryptor Classic to access through a virtual drive the files kept encrypted (individually) in a configurably selected dir (that I place in the Dropbox dir tree). That way, even if power failure or stolen PC, the contents are protected (except in some special cases, but I don't extend here) (Previous Boxcryptor Classic versions had problems with VS6.0 IDE file saving, that made it unusable, but they seem to be corrected with recent Classic 1.7 version (the New Boxcryptor, non-Classic, has unacceptable restrictions) and this is a configuration which I propose here, if it could help anybody, or even in case anybody wishes to propose me any better option).

So, I would like to also place the TC temp dirs, both for zip and for (internal or external) listers, inside the encrypted vitual drive, so they are kept encrypted in disk.

For this, I would request the feature to make that lister temp dir configurable, as now already is the zip file temp dir.

Thanks,
Jose
Thanks,
Jose

TC uses the TEMP/TMP environment variables. You can try setting them before launching TC.

Autorun plugin may be useful if you want to change TC environment variable on TC start.
