remove gradients from tabstops, change back disk button style

Post by *zloidooraque »

hi

i installed TC 8.5 after been using 7.x for long time and i dislike some things..

i cant attach damn links or screenshots wtf......

ok i'll try to explain
disk buttons were rectangle and flat, now rounded and 3d
tabstops were flat, now, with 3d gradients

is there way to change those things back?

all kinds of "flat" options don't work

TC just uses the current Windows theme to draw these user interface elements. 7.x and 8.5 use the same functions, so shouldn't look any different (just tried with TC 7.04a). Did you also switch from Windows XP to 7 or 8?

Hi,

sure you can.

Just make the link to your screenshot hoster not an valid one,

by modifying the URL and add a few blanks like

http:// picturehost.dk /1234/mypicture.jpg

instead of
http://picturehost.dk/1234/mypicture.jpg

After you around here for a while, you will be able to post real links too.

To your origin question I have no real answer, but I am sure a forum search will reveal something useful.
So wait till someone others have an idea for you.

Flat GUI style

Post by *Stefan2 »

To disable "Windows theme"

use TC internal command:

cm_VisXPThemeBackground=2923;Show/hide XP theme background

Type cm_VisXPThemeBackground into the TC commandline box.

-

Also
cm_VisFlatInterface
and
cm_VisFlatDriveButtons
shows an effect for me (TC 8.50 on Win7-64)

- - -
See TOTALCMD.INC file in TC folder
and best use "Extended Total Commander Menus" for easy access to such commands.

As I see from your screenshots, modern TC better uses Windows themes, and more window elements are now themed. I don't think it is a bug that TC supports Windows theme.

BTW my TC 7.04a and 8.51a look almost similar because I'm always using classic Windows theme. :D

Same here 8)

I hope they don't remove the classing theme in future Windows versions or else I'm gonna be stuck with an old OS for a very long time...

KC_,
Unfortunately they have already done this, Windows 8 have no classic theme, it only allows customizing basic high contrast theme (in order to get pleasant background and other colors) but it looks like sh** even after that.
However I hope they return it in Windows 9 and it will be usable, fortunately Windows 7 is fully enough for me...
