Is it possible to keep the quick filter results?

Post by *About:blank »

Hi,

I recently started to use the Quick Filter (Ctrl+S) function more often.
The filtering itself works very well, but I have encountered a little annoyance. When using the quick filter to search for sub-folders, after opening a sub-folder from the quick filter list (say, to look at its content and make sure it is the one needed) the filter query and results get reset when closing the sub-folder (by going one level up using the '..' shortcut, or clicking the back button), and one has to start all over again. Is it possible to set TC to keep the filter query and results until manually deleted from the quick filter field?

Thank you

Use constant filter: Show - Custom (Ctrl+F12).

Thank you, I wasn't familiar with this function.

I'm not really sure how to set it up.
From a very quick initial look it seems like it is designed to be used with predefined search terms/conditions, but I'm looking for a flexible, preferably search as you type, solution.

I could be wrong of course, and therefore will read more about the custom search function to get familiar with it.

You can type a mask directly to that dialog, e.g. (all TXT and DOC except ones that start with ~):

Code: Select all

*.txt *.doc* | ~*.*
So, you can use both ways: type quick mask or select some predefined template that you need often.

Yes, the quick filter gets reset, but you can always reapply the last used filter by pressing SHIFT-Ctrl-S ;)

Thank you, I didn't know about this very handy shortcut.

I'm still need to look into the Custom filter, but this is a very acceptable workaround to quickly achieve what I need.
