Usually to copy a file between the two file panes, I just drag the file across with the mouse ... no fuss, no muss. However when doing this for many such operations in a row or when using a trackpad instead of a mouse I find it more reliable to use a hot key for this. Has anyone written a script or plug-in for total commander that can do this? Actually there already is a hot key (F5) for this operation, but that's no good since it requires user confirmation, which takes too long and gets to be more and more annoying every time you are forced to confirm the file copy. In fact I find it surprising that the drag and drop doesn't require confirmation and the F5 key does. Usually people consider the mouse operation to be less reliable and more prone to mistakes, and so confirmation for the mouse operation is perhaps more justified than for the keyboard operation.

I was clicking on the OK button. Yes, using "Enter" helps make it faster, but what I didn't realize until just now is that half the time my hands aren't on the keyboard so I just hit the F5 button that appears below the file pane using my mouse. I drag and drop to the wrong place well less than 1% of the time, so I prefer to spend the time to fix what went wrong rather than confirm for each copy. However I'm sure many (maybe even most) people would rather do it the other way around, so it is great that Total Commander gives you the choice and somewhat ridiculous that Microsoft doesn't. That's why it is surprising to me that Total Commander does not allow you to turn off the confirmation for the "F5" copy. Also it just seems backwards that they allow you to disable the confirmation dialog for the more error prone (drag and drop) operation, but not for the more reliable "F5" style.

I think F5 dialog with different options was in managers since DOS years while drag and drop w/o confirmations only appeared with Windows so for Explorer users option was added to disable confirmations.
However you can use e.g. my TCFS2 in order to send F5 and then Enter by single mouse click onto a buttonbar button.
