HELP: Naming Total Commander for Windows phone
Hi!
Soon I would like to release the final version of Toal Commander for Windows Phone. Unfortunately I had to find out that it is NOT possible to convert a beta version to a release version. This also means that the name "Total Commander" is not "burned" forever for the Windows store.
Therefore I need a new name for Total Commander for Windows Phone. It shouldn't be too long, otherwise it would be cut in the app list. So "Total Commander for Windows Phone" is not an option. Here are some names I could think of. What do you think?
- Total Commander Mobile
- Total Commander WP
- Total Commander Phone
- Total Commander Mini
- Total Commander Micro
Other ideas?

I'm afraid that the most suggestions are to long. On my Lumia 920 there is only few space behind "Total Commander".
Total Commander WP
- #Total Commander - one of the first app in the app list
- Total Commander+ - you are not alone
- Total Commander [|] - file manager with two screens
- Total Commander Area - file manager with two areas
- TotalCommander - one word
- Total-Commander - or with dash
- Total Commander TC
- TC Total Commander
- WP Total Commander
Total Commander WP
FYI, the next wp version will be called: Windows 10 Mobile. So WP might sound obsolete in the future.

It looks like the store is also changing with windows 10, and it looks like the fonts are smaller: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy6efXv39ZE
I personally wouldn't mind Total Commander Mobile, but that's just me!

"Total Commander Mobile" is nice but long (even with smaller fonts) and ambiguous (TC doesn't work for now on 97% of mobiles: Android, iOS, Blackberry...). So it's not the "mobile" version, just the "Windows Phone" version of Total Commander.ghisler(Author) wrote:Then what else? How about just

The same goes for Christian's suggestion, "Total Commander M". Sufficiently short, but equally ambiguous.
Of course, you could use M or Mobile -- as of now -- IF you plan to port TC to other mobile platforms, for name consistency. But if it's going to remain only a Windows Phone product, then I would call it just that: TC-WP.
CORRECTION:
I hadn't noticed that info, which I just checked. Indeed, WP will no longer exist, the OS and product will be called Windows 10 Mobile.Rockin wrote:FYI, the next wp version will be called: Windows 10 Mobile. So WP might sound obsolete in the future.
That means Total Commander 10 Mobile or Total Commander Win10M are our choices, for a single port to Microsoft only. Or Total Commander M or Mobile for a multiple port, to Android etc. as well.
How about
Well keeping the original ”Total Commander” name is the best, but since it's taken by the beta channel, I propose to just to name it TC Mobile, and just tag the hell out of it, also the name is short and clean.
Also, it would be wise to just try and name it Total Commander, but instead of "l - small letter L" to put "I - Big letter i" , so we'll have "TotaI Commander" and when the original name gets sorted out, you'll just change it.

Did you tried to change the name in windows store?
I have read many articles talking about how to change the app name in the Windows Store.
Search Google for Changing the name of a Windows 8 Store app
I suggest this one http://blogs.technet.com/b/...

Yes I did - it looks like I can add a new name, but the used one cannot be reused for other apps.
