Every time I try to use this tool, it pops up a dialog box saying "Error, could not rename the files shown in bold!" about all the selected files.
(I'm trying to remove a double space at location 8 in the files' names by either of two methods: [N] and search for " " replace with " ", or [N1-7][N9-]).
MRT: doesn't work in Win 7 64 bit? Solved: UAC permissions!

You may have a file with the same name (the target name) in the same directory, so you should check that.

Hi lescha and welcome to the forum!
You should have no problem doing the manipulation you have described.
But since you had problems and asked here for help,... you may give some more details.
1.)
a- are you able to rename that file by hand from within TC?
b- can you rename that file by hand from within WinExplorer?
2.) from which location do you want to rename that file? local HDD / usb drive / share / ftp /...?
Can you post the path and the file name?
3.) OS version? 64-bit? TC-version? 32-or64-bit?
