Ctrl-T does no longer open a new tab?

Post by *jagruys »

All of sudden, Ctrl-T does no longer open a new tab, but either opens the multi-rename screen or says "No file selected". I have no idea what can have caused this, and even less how to correct it.

Does anyone have a useful suggestion? I should be very grateful indeed.

Check if there's a hotkey redefined: Configuration > Options > Misc > Redefine hotkeys. Click on the little arrow pointing down to see the currently defined hotkeys.

No, there is no hotkey identical or similar to Ctrl+T. I do not know if it is relevant, but in Firefox I use the same keyboard shortcut for the same purpose, and there it is still successful.

jagruys,
Configuration - Layout - Show folder tabs.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

 Didn't know that one. Indeed, that could be the explanation.

But why the heck is TC so inconsistent when folder tabs are disabled? The menu item Show > New Folder Tab doesn't do anything, but Ctrl+T is doing something completely different (calling MRT). And, even worse, the menu item "New Folder Tab" still shows Ctrl+T as hotkey, which is wrong then. This is some really strange and inconsistent behavior!

Thank you very much! Configuration - Options - Layout - Show folder tabs did the trick. Have been using TotalCommander for 20 years now, but did not know this.

I think it is really a time to remove old hotkeys support for MRT in TC 9...
It is interesting BTW how many people still use TC without tabs!

Well, Mr. Ghisler could put them in a silver cage somewhere in a backroom...
