This ONLY happens to me with TC 32bit under Windows XP 32bit:
Steps to reproduce:
1: Open for example tc852ax32_rc1.exe (Ctrl-PgDn) in both panels.
2. Open Install.cab in both panels.
3. Compare Contents with two txt files (fx. history.txt and history.txt) - no problem.
4. Compare two binary files (fx. Freres32.dll and Freres32.dll) - maybe not the first time I compare, but every time thereafter I get an "Access denied on file F:\TEMP\_tc_\FRERES32.DLL!" message (I have my temp dir set to F:\TEMP). It happens when I try to compare any binary file but not when comparing text files.
5. If I hit enter twice when the message comes up - I get the expected "The two files have the same content!" message - and if I hit enter once again the content of the two files is shown, but in text mode, not in binary mode!
I cannot reproduce the error with Windows 7, 8.1 or 10
It also happens if I compare fx. tc852ax32_rc1.exe and tcmd852x32.exe - so it is not because I in the example above compare the archive with itself.

Can not confirm this. Maybe there's something wrong with your temp directory.

Sounds like a virus scanner blocking the files immediately after unpacking them.

You are right - after deactivating my Avast virus scanner, the problem is gone.Sounds like a virus scanner blocking the files immediately after unpacking them.
I use Windows Defender on the other systems.

You should report the problem to Avast - virus scanners shouldn't behave like that. When a file needs to be scanned, the CreateFile function should hang until the file has been scanned, and then open the file. I guess that Avast returns a file open error immediately for these files because it takes so much time to scan them...
