Pirate no more!

Post by *PET »

Hello guys,

Well... after years and years and years I finally bought a Total Commander license. I always told myself that "On my first official salary I will buy one". Well that day is today!

I have been using TC since 1999 when I got my first PC (I was 13 years old) and since then TC always runs. I don't even use my desktop... I use TC. It's funny to see so many people being slow trying to do normal stuff using the Windows Explorer and I'm like "bam bam I'm done".

TC allowed me to organize myself better and do a lot of tasks faster. ALT+F5, ALT+F9... multi rename tool... FTP... etc.

So thank you to Mr.Ghisler for creating this software :)

-------------------------------------

Are there any "must have plugins" out there? I'm preparing to go manually over the wiki and see what's interesting. Over the past couple of years I used the Total CMA Pack that had some really useful plugins. Some of those plugins I used daily without realizing that they are actual plugins.

Thank You

Thanks for supporting my work, better late than never! :)

I wouldn't use a plugin pack, just install what you really need.

PET,
There are no must-have plugins for everyone, but everyone has its own must-have plugins set depending on his needs. So just use TC and search for a plugin (or maybe even just another TC option that will solve your problem) when you need to do more than you can. This page and this site contain most TC plugins, many of them have own discussion topics here so forum search is also useful.

I unfortunately did not use it, only occasionally work,
because is not very comfortable AND and low speed of copying small files (compared to Explorer) [in my case!]or some unknown error accessing (can not copy ALL ....)I do not want to be sending the screen-in error - no need to fix anything because I did not use it.
In Internet Explorer - no such strange errors and all copies, no problem
Comportable (better and faster) for me to work on a standard Explorer :D

I have the same story. The first desktop software I paid for was Total Commander.

Prior to TC, I was actually a user of a different file manager (as a pirate. back then I was dead broke and honestly couldnt justify purchasing a license. had to buy food first :) ). Anyway, one day I was using that software when all hell broke lose, lost all my settings, etc (took hours setting all that up to tweak to my liking). Turns out the author of the software time bombed the software for this to happen to people who used keygens.

Anyway, I was a pirate, didn't have a right to complain. Being poor was not an excuse to pirate the software. But that left a bad test in my mouth. I felt stupid for being time bombed by the author of the software. I could imagine him with an evil laugh saying "Hah! That's what you get for stealing my software!". Couldn't blame him, though, I guess I got what I deserved.

So I moved on and looked for an alternative. That's when I found TC. A couple of months after I got a decent job, I purchased TC. That was almost 4 years ago.

A program should at most destroy itself, messing with the rest of the computer is like vandalism, no matter the reasons, besides time bomb may incorrectly be triggered. That software is like a virus. Please provide us the name of it to beware. Thanks.

Ghisler, maybe you could enable a paypal Donation option (for people who wish to support without buying a license, either because they already have one, or because they use your software by pressing 1,2 or 3 at startup).

For XLS viewers/editors freeware and with small footprint Go to:
http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categories/business/spreadsheets.html

For downloading my favorite: (do NOT use):
http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categories/business/files/S32118.zip

Apparently this link works only from within the first one. So don't use this one but scroll down a bit (1/2 a page) from the top link above.

Good luck,

Horst.Epp,

Thank you for your kind remark. You could, perhaps, re-read the _original_ post and see there the sentence:
>> "Are there any "must have plugins" out there?"

Which might just explain why your:
>> "No related to TC in any way and outdated"

Is out of place here. This is what the poster asked for and the 2 given replies, IIUC, do not provide an XLS reader / Editor.

As for outdated - I agree, but please let me know of another, modern one, free and having so many EXCEL functions built in, and all that in 0.6MB. I'd be really happy.

This situation is too a good example why it is a bad idea to ask/discuss different things in one thread.
