Standalone window quickview

Post by *Lefteous »

As there has been another quickview suggestion I would like to add another (most likely not for the first time).

The idea of a standalone quickview is to have the same behavior as for the Quickview window but in a standalone window. So you perform a certain command and a window is opened. When pointing to another file this file will be previewed in this window. Just like quickview works but without hiding the target file window.

This mode would be handy especially for those who are using two displays.

It could be implemented with the current lister, but with some kind of "link" button or so. When it is pressed, it would get new names from main TC just like quick view.

Such a toggle button (or two modes in general) sounds great :-)
I think it's important that it can be started directly or from an existing Lister window.

I'd find this very helpful too. Sorting miscellaneous files in one panel into a tree structure in the other panel would go lots faster if the contents of the file at the cursor to be sorted is automatically displayed in a third panel. It would be like lister except that control would not be transferred to the view window each time you moved to the next file. Ctrl-Q now lets you view without transferring control, but it covers up the tree structure I want to sort the files into. As it is, either way there are lots of extra clicks and time lost keeping track of where the cursor is.

Hope you can add this capability. Seems like it shouldn't be too major.

Quick View: images should scale to fit the panel

Post by *hbrydle »

To see images automatically scaled to fit the Quick View panel, press F (fit to window). Took me years to finally figure this out. Shame on me.
