REQ: Folder sorting override

Post by *wanderer »

In general, i use extension ascending sorting in all folders in my PC. There are some folders though, which i'd like to have a different sorting (i.e. my downloads folder to be by Date descending). It would be very convenient if there was a way when entering into a folder, to automatically change the default sorting.

I can think of a few ways to achieve that, but one seems to be more "proper". A section in the INI file in which one could define the full path and the sorting he wishes to have. That way, a default sorting for all folders could exist in TC (defined by CTRL+F3-F7 keys/buttons) but when entering the specific folder, the sorting would automatically become the one defined in the INI section (changeable by CTRL+F3-F7 keys/buttons of course). To make it simple, leaving the folder would restore the default sorting that existed before entering to it. Reentering the folder would again automatically change the sorting to the one defined in the new INI section.

An extra setting could exist to defined if the INI sorting entry would affect only the defined folder or its subfolders too. In another setting, the Full/Brief mode could also be defined.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

If someone would do this, not only sorting but panel view and maybe some other settings could be remembered.
Currently you can use combined commands that will change dir and then sorting mode using e.g. TCFS2. or some scripting system.
