Discuss 'per folder' feature
Ghisler has stated in several threads that he isn't that happy about the solution he found so far for the color/view/whatever per folder feature in TC 9.
I would like to suggest a public discussion on this even before starting the betatest. This could be based on a few screenshots of the current implementation or drafts or whatever is there. Another required input for such a discussion would be the actual issues Ghisler sees that prevents a completion state of this feature.
I hope you like the idea.

Sure I know it. Ghisler also stated that he thinks that the solution in TwinKey is too complex. As I don't know what he thinks is the part which is too complex I started this thread (and maybe find a better solution).Did you have a look of how its displayed in the TwinKey UI ?
Its easy to understand.

In the meantime, I found quite a good solution. You can discuss it and make suggestions for improvements once the beta test starts. I will start the beta test without new icons until I find a designer.

Great to hear that a Per Folder setting is perhaps coming in TC 9. Is that for colors only or would a default folder view be available as well?
For example, it would be good to set a default view for specific folders and their subfolders containing images to Thumbnail View and having custom Default Views for folders containing music, etc.

It's similar to twinkey: You can set:
- panel background colors
- tab header color
- view mode (brief, full, thumbs, custom columns...)
- sort order
- additional sort orders
The rules will be:
- by directory
- by directory content, e.g. at least 50% jpg, png or gif
- by folder type, e.g. archive, ftp connection, or fs plugin

Will it be possible to set reversed sorting? For example, when opening a certain directory TWinKey can switch to date/time sorting (from newest to oldest). But it can not automatically sort from oldest to newest. I had asked VadiMGP to implement it, but he refused, and explained why.ghisler(Author) wrote:It's similar to twinkey: You can set:

Will TC 9.0 be able to make the inverted sorting by a specified column?

What does 'directory' mean - how are subdirectories managed?- by directory
- by directory content, e.g. at least 50% jpg, png or gif

Is it really about reversing the sort oder or more about setting descending/ascending sort order?reversed sorting?

Frankly I don't see any difference. Without TWinKey, when you want to sort files by date in descending order (newest -> oldest), you click the "Date" header (or press Ctrl+F5) once, for ascending one (oldest -> newest) you click twice. TWinKey allows to "click" automatically, but once only. I would like TC 9 be able to "click" a specified header twice for a specified pathLefteous wrote:Is it really about reversing the sort oder or more about setting descending/ascending sort order?

Yes, it is more flexible. But I will be fully satisfied with a simple trigger
