Is there a way I can protect a file from accidentally being renamed in TC?
Serveral times I've done it, and of course there's no Undo button, and I prefer not adding them to the ignore list, only to set it up and then unset it back after working inside a folder.
Ways to avoid accidentally renaming incorrect file(s).

And Also
Just as an aside, Spiderkey, and others, there's a little-appreciated feature of the MrT, obfuscated by the absence of a visual cue (as in the Alt-F10 Directory(?) Tree pop-up, too, for instance).
The feature is that there's the option to right-click a chosen file in the MrT file panel and 'delete' it from consideration.
Saves having to back out and reselect all over again.
Found by chance/intuition.
PS elgonzo, can I Like your posts..?

Considering its location on the keyboard, hitting the DEL key would qualify as a keyboard right-click, or?MVV wrote:Delete key on your keyboard? The feature is that there's the option to right-click a chosen file in the MrT file panel and 'delete' it from consideration.

Yes, okay, thanks, gentlemen ...polishing the final draft of my rough comment:-
In the MrT you can remove a file from the selected rename list by pressing the Del (Delete) key on the keyboard.
You can do this many times, one file at a time.
Note that in spite of your using the Del (Delete) key, any file is itself untouched; it's safe. Only the filename is deleted/removed from the Multi-rename Tool list panel. (There are no other visual cues ..unfortunately.)
That saves your having to go back to TC itself to re-select the files you want, all over again.
Highly recommended.
