Help: Advantage of 64bit vs. 32bit? Should I stick w/64bit ?

Post by *JohnTC »

Ah, TC 9, that is very exciting!

A conundrum. I have 8.51a 64bit. Should I stick with 64bit? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to 32bit vs. 64bit? I have 64bit Windows 8.

What do you guys think?

Editing system folders may be done in 32-bit version too so it is not a problem.
It should be kept in mind that 64-bit versions start 64-bit system applications from System32 folder (e.g. regedit.exe or cmd.exe).
But it seems that real advantage is larger memory address space: if you use plugins that require a lot of memory you are limited by 2-3 GB with 32-bit version.
