[TC 9.0 rc1] Search dialog bug (Win98)

Post by *MaxX »

To do:
1. Start TC 9.0 rc1 @ Win 98
2. Alt+F7
3. See: window is to small to be shown, not able to resize, not able to maximize.

TC 8.52a works fine.

Hard to imagine that anybody should still use Windows 98 more than 10 years, after Microsoft has buried it. :?
None of my computers lived longer than 10 years. The oldest Windows edition which can be found here is Windows 7 SP1.

Well... there are still too many ancient PCs in some bureaucratic places. No need to upgrade untill it works.

MaxX:
1. Confirmed the small dialog on Win98 (1024x768 screen)
2. Confirmed, that there are still a lot of Win98 installations running on old hardware, to weak to run newer OS.

Confirmed that its wasting time for an developer to support such systems.
People with such systems can still use older TC versions.

I do wonder a bit whether there has ever been a 64-bit edition of either Windows 95 or Windows 98 or Windows ME. - No, of course not.

So its time for Christian to remove Win95 :)

If this is the only bug in windows 95/98, why not fix it if possible?

I'm not against it but there are more importand errors to fix
which also need time from Christian.
Only if all reported errors are fixed for supported OSs its time for Win9x.
Today you will find many tools which in its newest versions no longer support
outdated OS versions for technical reasons.

But that's it - Windows 98 is claimed to be supported by TC (even if it is not supported by Microsoft)

Should be fixed in RC2, thanks!

It was due to a bugfix for Windows 10 on 05.09.16:

05.09.16 Fixed: Search window couldn't be maximized to full width on Windows 10 due to Win10 bug (32/64)

I set the maximum width to 1000000, which causes problems with Win9x where coordinates are 16bit only. I have changed the max. to 32000 now.
