Changing Behaviour of Alt-Letter

Love the update - MUCH faster Network Operation, but I do not like the Alt-Letter isolating just the files that start with that letter. Been through the Configuration over and over and can not find a way of changing it back to just popping to the first file with that letter.

Perhaps he don't want to see quick filter enabled by default and have only quick search?

There is an option in Configuration section of wincmd.ini for that (always turn filter off on TC start, then remember its last state that may be changed with Ctrl+S):

Navigate to the Quick Searche configuration Panel
Preferences =>Configuration => Quick Search
on the second block [Exact name match] untick all options !
And you will not have jump to file that match from the first letter.

The correct response is the one of MVV [CTRL]+S or with ini variable.

Ya all seem to miss my point.

In previous V9 days, when you tapped Alt-T, it would highlight the the first file that started with T.

Now when you tap Alt-T, the panel just shows the files/folders that start with T, the rest of the files are gone. You need to Ctrl-\ to get to the root and then start all over again.

OK, so I tap CTRL-S and tap a letter and this is what I get:
is a screen print that I cannot upload - but is of three folders, all starting with the letter I tapped.

Go into program files and crtl-s and then tap a letter a tell me what happens. Does it jump to the start of the FIRST folder of the letter you tapped with all other folders STILL showing - like it has always been? Or do you now have a panel that ONLY shows the folders starting with the letter you tapped?
I wish to have the former, not the latter.

You should open quick search window first with Alt+Letter, then press Ctrl+S once to release filter button (it is in quick search window near input field; you can also click it with mouse). You can press Ctrl+S again to enable filter and again to disable etc.
After switching filter off, use Alt+Letter for searching as usually and filter will remain disabled until you close TC (if you want to disable it on TC start, read my previous post).

Ctrl-S is a toggle, you have to press it several times to toggle between your current and your desired behavior.

THIS fixed it. I had another machine that worked fine - out of the box, a look through the ini files, showed
QuickSearchAutoFilter-1
QuickSearchMatchBeginning=1
QuickSearchMatch=0

Not wanting to waste time figuring out which needed to be turned off, I deleted the 3 AND ALL IS WELL.

Now this may be a an old feature, but coming from Norton Commander (still have it) into Windows Commander/Total Commander when it first showed up, I've become accustomed to it.

I realize I might have come off as an a**hole in my replies, but it's been hell-week here and I never meant to get on anyones' nerves or show disrespect!

Removing quick search INI entries won't help to disable quick filter which is enabled by default (since TC version where it was added).
