Or use "Configuration-> Options... ->Misc:" to assign any hotkey you want to do the job to the command "cm_FocusCmdLine".

I noticed that left/right don't switch focus to the command line in the custom column view. Is there a way to fix it?

You can remove the selection at "Horizontal scrollbar" in the lower left corner of the "Cuctom Columns" setup dialog. Or use Shift+Left and Shift+Right
