Multireplace support / addon

Post by *redfox »

It would be great if TC could have the ability to replace content in multiple files, either built-in, or via an addon. I has been requested a long time ago, but with no response.

I am quite tired of trying external utilities, which are often buggy or infected. I was using the ReplaceText app yesterday and it freezed after second use, never more...

Thanks in advance.

Such function is part of most good editors even freeware.
So I don't see any need for duplication in TC.
Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.4351)
TC 11.55 RC7 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1395a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.5.5.0, Listary Pro 6.3.2.88
QAP 11.9.0.4 x64

Its a basic function. If there is a multirename available in TC, a multireplace should be included as well.

I'm sorry, currently this isn't planned, for security reasons: If you apply this by mistake to e.g. Word files, the resulting files will be unusable because of the changed offsets to the formatting information.

Therefore their content would be completely lost. I can recommend that you use a multiple document editor with search+replace across documents.
This way you can see what you are replacing.
