Sharing wincmd.ini except for my key

Post by *CharlesF »

Hi folks,

I want to share my complete TC setup with my brother to show him valuable a tool it is. However, I don't want to share by license key.

Do I need to delete something from wincmd.ini to remove my key.

Many thanks.

Regards,
Charles

The Key-file is a file for its own and not stored in your wincmd.ini.
Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.4351)
TC 11.55 RC6 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1395a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.5.5.0, Listary Pro 6.3.2.88
QAP 11.9.0.3 x64

Many thanks. If I give him a zip archive of my TC installation will I inadvertently give him my key.

Just do not share the file named "wincmd.key".

Oh, and you may want to clean up the "wincmd.ini" to share from your private history entries.

Code: Select all

[left]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[right]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[RenameTemplates]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[MkDirHistory]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[SearchName]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[SearchIn]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[SearchText]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[Command line history]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[Selection]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[RenameSearchFind]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[RenameSearchReplace]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[lefttabs]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[righttabs]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[RightHistory]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini
[LeftHistory]
RedirectSection=WINtmp.ini

(I have mine redirect here to a temp file for easy clean up from time to time)

Excellent idea. Thanks.

Hello,
I found a tip about the file "Wincmd.key", I put it in the list of ignored, I did the same with this list "Tcignore.txt" so that if I copy (with tc) the Tc file in order to give it to someone without giving him the key, they are not in the copy.
