Beta download speed

Currently downloading the beta6 cab. For 7.4MB, is the speed of 50-70 KB/sec normal?

No, from here it only takes a few seconds.

Hmmm. It must be my provider then. I have downloaded all beta cabs with such speeds, and i'm on VDSL 50/5... Tragic. Other sites are not like this though.

Try the command
tracert ghisler.ch
in a cmd.exe command processor. It's possible that your provider doesn't have any peering with Hetzner in Germany, so the trace takes a big detour.

Well, i tried it at work. It seems quite normal (50-60ms avg outside of my provider, 13 hops total) and the download took a couple of seconds. I'll try it at home to see what results i'll get, i expect horror though...

Well, you're not alone. At least on the day a new beta is released I only get around 300 to 400 KB/s which has been the case for the last two or three beta versions (can't tell what was before then because I didn't download/test). A couple of minutes ago when I retested the speed was fine (1.6 MiB/s which is the maximum of my 16 MBit/s internet connection).

I just tried it at home. I have 8 hops with an avg of about 93ms on the 4 that are outside of my provider. I just tried the download too. At work earlier, it took about 1.5 seconds. Here at home, it took something like 0.3 seconds!

This behaviour is not normal. I too have faced such slow speeds in earlier betas, as Dalai reported. Yesterday it was much worse than today (maybe because the site had too much traffic?). Anyway, if i face the same speeds again, i'll do a traceroute again and i'll report it here.
