[TC 10 b9] Find Files dialog is noticeably slow to open and flickering
The Find File dialog feels slow to open, and it's easy to notice the dynamic layout of controls when opening Search and switching between tabs.
Possibly due to this change since b8:
06.05.01 Fixed: Standalone search dialog could be scaled incorrectly on Windows 10 if OverrideDpi was set while using a main screen with different dpi (32/64)

This fix was only for "Search in separate process".
Do you mean that only "Search in separate process" is slow, or also the internal search dialog?

Sorry, I meant the "Find files" dialog. It was my fault to carelessly translate the name back from the Chinese UI.

When it opens up, I can see the controls like "Search for" and "Search in" expand to fill the screen width. And when the 3rd tab "Plugins" is clicked, it's quite noticeable that the controls are gradually painted out, like what would happen with Windows 98 on an old and slow machine.

It's probably because of this new option:
Configuration - Options - Font - Automatically adjust dialogboxes to larger fonts
Most other dialogs do the resizing while still hidden.

I disabled this option and tried again, but the effect is almost the same. I agree it's conceptually related, though.
Update: Now tried again on a desktop that is a lot faster than my laptop (but can't say the laptop is slow). The flickering is still easily noticeable (with or without the option), just a little shorter. In contrast, b8 works smoothly on both machines.

On my slow laptop with Windows 10 - I can confirm that the loading of the "Find files" dialog takes longer time with TC 10 b9 than with TC 10 b8.
On my Window 7 computer the dialog is displayed immediately also in beta 9.

Re: [TC 10 b9] Find Files dialog is noticeably slow to open and flickering
On my Windows 10 machines b8 is snappy enough. But 9.5.1 has already works perfectly with 200% scaling for me. An option to completely disable this adjustment is more than welcome. My environment: Windows 10 64-bit 20H2 (19042.964), 2K screen with 200% scaling.
Update: After a comparison on virtual machines (where CPU speed can be controlled), it seems that b9 shows the Advanced tab before the General tab, which causes the uncomfortable flickering. 9.5.1 shows an empty (all-white) client area inside the dialog frame before revealing the General tab, which feels faster. The absolute time to fully load the controls is roughly the same when the option is turned off.
By the way, I think these edges are not yet properly aligned: Image: https://i.postimg.cc/ZYP5Dywt/Screenshot113.png

@yyang: I can confirm what you see - The Advanced tab indeed appears first before switching to the General tab. I didn't notice this until you mentioned it, as normally the computer is too fast to make it noticeable. I have to pay very close attention, or as you said limit the processing frequency.
BTW do you mean 4K (3840x2160) screen with 250% scaling? 2K with 250% scaling sounds like a 7''-8'' tiny tablet...

Re: [TC 10 b9] Find Files dialog is noticeably slow to open and flickering
Hi, thanks for the confirmation, and nice catch! The resolution is 2K (2560x1440) indeed, but the scaling is 200% (fixed), on a 25'' DELL U2518D monitor. Larger fonts feel more relaxing to me than condensed text lines.jiangzhenjerry wrote: ↑2021-05-09, 03:07 UTC BTW do you mean 4K (3840x2160) screen with 250% scaling? 2K with 250% scaling sounds like a 7''-8'' tiny tablet...

You are right, I changed something on the second tab and forgot to switch back to the first, so it loads with the second tab now and immediately switches to the first. I will fix it.it seems that b9 shows the Advanced tab before the General tab
