Using TotalCommander on macOS (or Linux via wine/crossover)

Post by *dy/dx »

Hi,

Long-time Windows user wants to bring the most important application to macOS (Total Commander, surprise).

Does anyone use TC on wine/crossover (preferably macOS) and wants to share experience and configuration tips?

A few issues that I am facing already:
  • All file types look identical. That makes it super hard to navigate. Ideally all the icons from macOS would show up. If not, it would be nice if these icons can be configured at least manually.
  • Many of the "pseudo zip file" file types (*.key, *.pptx, *.xlsx, ...) do not open properly. Either TC goes into the zip files or the Files Properties dialog opens.
  • Some file types (most notably Keynote *.key) do not open even with long right click->Open, even though they open properly via the builtin explorer
  • It would be great to easily open a Finder window for the current directory
Thanks!
