Green graphical animation -- context cut & paste -- unsafe?
If I select a file and use the context menu's Cut, then browse to a target directory, then Paste, the selected file is moved to the target directory. In the move, a distinctive, green, animated graphic is shown showing the move in progress.
I suspect that the graphic is from Windows. I'm concerned because, in contrast to TC, Windows has a reputation of not verifying the data during moves and copies and therefore is unsafe.
Please comment.
Warm Regards,
Mark Filipak.

MarkFilipak,
Cut and paste is handled by Explorer.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Re: Green graphical animation -- context cut & paste -- unsafe?
Thank you, Roman. Is the Cut and paste by Explorer safe?

MarkFilipak,
That's a question only the developers of Explorer can answer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: Green graphical animation -- context cut & paste -- unsafe?
I have a story.
In all versions of DOS and Windows, the copy command is:
COPY <source> <destination> "Copies one or more files to another location."
COPY /V <source> <destination> "Verifies that new files are written correctly."
Did you get that? I very quickly learned and trained myself. Muscle memory caused me to automatically type "copy /v".
Now, if a company thinks that making verifiably correct copies is an option, what about Cut and Paste by context menu?
I'd be much happier with anything Christian would cook up ... not the Windows cut and paste.

Then don't use cut and paste which is not ncessary for a 2 windows file manager.MarkFilipak wrote: 2022-02-12, 03:42 UTC I have a story.

Also don't be paranoid about safety of cut and paste with Explorer,
millions of people do it daily without problems.

There's a verification option in TC's copy dialog (opened by F5), if that's what you're asking.

Re: Green graphical animation -- context cut & paste -- unsafe?
Yes, thank you, there is, and "[X] Verify" is permanently enabled. But there is no such thing if I use context cut-&-paste. I only use context cut-&-paste if the paste destination is not in the other window.
I'll have to train myself to not use context cut-&-paste.
