Direct writing to the system partition of an android device gone forever?

Post by *M20001 »

Hello people

I wanted to ask here, since it looks like you are a little more familiar with the matter.

I have a Gigaset GX290Plus that I have successfully rooted (bootloader unlocked, and root rights on the system) but I can no longer mount the system partition itself as writable, which I have now learned from a post by Topjohnwu is probably due to a protection that Google has built into the newer Android versions.

This prevents that it is possible to change the system partition directly by write access.

Now I wanted to ask here, whether there will be in the future the possibility to turn off this protection, and again as before direct access to the system partition to get, or whether this possibility is probably gone forever.

No, this isn't possible. You can try booting into recovery (TWRP) and modify the system partition from there.
