Changing the company name in the TC banner

Post by *hansangb »

Hello,
When I was installing on my work laptop, I wasn't paying attention and allowed the installer to pick up the company name. But I would like to change it to "Self" which is what I normally use. Is there a way to change the Company name that is in the app banner?

I searched the registry and it's not there. And I'm OK with editing any files, but didn't know where to look.

Regards,
HSB

To my knowledge if you have your own licence, only the owner is shown. If you edited the TitleExtraText property to match your company name, you can blank/remove this setting from your ini file.
If you use company licence in personal computer, just purchase your own licence..

The name you see is the name the key was ordered with and that info is stored in you license key file.

Please write to newkey at ghisler dot com and send
1. Your license number (if known) - see menu help - about Total Commander.
2. The correct name AND full address at purchase time and the current one, or with as many details as possible.

If you are the legitim owner of that license and just want to change the name,
then Mr. Ghisler may consider to send you a new key via e-mail free of charge.

If it's the key from a company you worked on you may buy a own license.

Keys registered to a company may be changed free of charge to the new company name if either
1. The company has changed its name,
or
2. The company was taken over by another company
or
3. A company was dissolved

Sometimes the change is obvious, e.g. when only a word in the company name changes. Otherwise it would help me a lot to get a link to a page explaining what happened to the company, and why the name was changed.

Perfect, I'll email for the change. It's actually the reverse. I was using my license but installed on a company laptop.

This is allowed even when the key shows your name and not your company name.
