If you tell TC to pack any file that is classified as an archive, it will suggest the generic name of "pack.zip", rather than giving it the name of the original file.
Through packer plugins, TC can be configured to open all sorts of files, not just traditional compressed archives. I have plugins for opening C64 disk images (D64), Amiga disk images (ADF), ISO files, etc.
I often want to compress some of these files and I find it mildly annoying that when I tell it to pack such files, it defaults to the generic name of "pack.zip" (or "pack.rar", etc), requiring me to manually change the name. Or I can check the option to create a separate archive for each file, which will use the original name, but it also includes the original extension, which I have to then go in and delete. OK, I don't have to delete it, but I always do.
Is there any way, short of removing the packer plugins, to get TC to use the original filename as the default when packing 'archive' files?
Why does TC use the filename "pack.zip" when packing 'archives'?

Re: Why does TC use the filename "pack.zip" when packing 'archives'?
It only suggests pack.zip when there is a danger of a name collision.
Normally it suggests
1. The name of the file+.zip when packing only one file
2. The name of the folder+zip when packing multiple files
3. pack.zip when packing multiple files in the root of a drive, or packing a zip file (so the names would be the same)

2. The name of the folder+zip when packing multiple files OR SINGLE ARCHIVE FILE (except Root)

When packing a file that is considered an archive, it never[/i[ uses the original name;ghisler(Author) wrote: 2022-03-31, 14:16 UTC It only suggests pack.zip when there is a danger of a name collision.

D64 'archive' being packed from the root of a drive and from a sub-directory;
