I cannot reach the content of Android/data folder under Android 13, workaround?

Hi.

My phone (Samsung S22) was updated to Android 13. Since then I cannot reach the content of Android/data folder from Total Commander. When I tap on "-> Installed apps" button under Android/data, I got an empty list.

I've reinstalled the app, and now when I tap on "-> Installed apps" button under Android/data, I get a warning, that TC needs an extra permission for this folder, but on the next screen I cannot grant the permission, because I got a message that "Can't use this folder. To protect your privacy, choose another folder".

Is this some new "feature" from Google again? Is there any chance for a workaround?

Google has closed that bypass, but there is a new one where you need to grant access for every subfolder separately.
You need the latest beta version of Total Commander:

Thank you TC. TC is the only one to tell me about this change in Android 13.
I´ve got the new version and am BetaTester. But can´t find the way to grant access.

It doesn't work when you granted access to Android/data before - then TC will try to access the folder the older (Android 12) way. This worked during the Android 13 beta, but no longer works with Android 13 final.
I'm currently working on a beta where it will work. You can uninstall and reinstall TC, but then you would lose all settings, so it's not recommended.

3.40b5 doesn't work for me under Android 13 on a Samsung S21.
If I try to access the folder Android/data/Installierte Apps
It displays an info screen "Schreibgeschützt" and if I say Ja in this dialog
the next screen tells me "Dieser Ordner kann nicht verwendet werden".

Trying to access Android/Data/Installed apps on the Internal memory, just shows an empty folder
Trying to access Android/Data/Installed apps on the external SD-card, gives me a TC-dialog telling me to choose the folder from a special Android dialog - when I choose Yes to this, Android tells med that the folder cannot be used - create a new folder.

Do I really have to reinstall the app?

Android/data and Android/obb are restricted folders, you can't access them the normal way. It all works here in the emulator, but it seems that Samsung and other vendors are doing something different. It's hard to test without a real device having the issues (my S10e isn't getting Android 13). I will try another approach in beta 6.

Btw, if you dislike the app icons used for app folders, you can turn it off now in main menu - Configure - Thumbnails.
