Custom DLLs into FILTER32 or FILTER64

Post by *MaxX »

How can I properly use my FFMPEG or LAV DLLs with TC?
It's clear that 32 and 64 means DLL's bits.
But which of third-party filters does TC support?
Ukrainian Total Commander Translator. Feedback and discuss.

TC support LAVFilters, FFDShow-(tryouts) and Haali Media Splitter
https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/
http://haali.net/mkv/
LAVFilters are recommended.

Total Commander can load these filters from FILTER32 or FILTER64 subdirectory without the need to install them, which is useful for portable installations (e.g. running from USB flash drive). It will use other filters too if they are installed in Windows.

What files are strictly needed from LAV filter archive to copy in the Filter32(64) folder? All the DLLs, or... ? (I don't what to overbloat my portable TC).
Thanks.

Related question. I am using MPC-HC via TC extensions associations. And this accepts subtitles too. May I use the LAVfilters in the FILTER64 folder and have the same performance? The last time I played with these, I was not able to run subtitles correctly. Also: are subfolders allowed in FILTER64? Could you help me with some input? Thank you!

My experience is that only this version of the subtitle filter works in TC https://github.com/pinterf/xy-VSFilter/releases/download/3.2.0.802/xyVSFilterSubFilter-pfmod-3.2.0.802.7z - the newer versions does not work for me.

I tested it with latest TC and it seems this version also works fine:
https://github.com/pinterf/xy-VSFilter/releases/tag/3.2.0.803

Unfortunatelly, the newest builds crashes TC :(

So hopefully Mr.Ghisler will read this thread and try to debug this bad case with the newest xy-VSFilter builds.

I cannot do anything when a filter crashes - I just tell Windows to load the filter and put it in the filter chain, I can't control what the filter does afterwards.

but Pawel said that the Total Commander crashed!
So You already tested those filters above for that case?

https://github.com/pinterf/xy-VSFilter/releases/tag/3.2.0.803 does not work in Windows 7 - as far as I remember it does work in my Windows 10

System-wide, I have installed K-Lite Standard Codec Package version 17.9.0, including MPC-HC.
This contains version 3.2.0.808 of the "VobSub & TextSub filter for DirectShow/VirtualDub/Avisynth".
It works fine in TC, including sub-filters.
No crashes or other problems.

version 3.2.0.808 of the "VobSub & TextSub filter for DirectShow/VirtualDub/Avisynth".
Interesting - the same version as 'xy-VSFilter' project has - but with different name...
Maybу a fixed fork?
Which in principle is not so surprising - after all, the last date when the files of this project were corrected
lies somewhere around 2022-11-16. During this time, it was quite possible to find mistakes, fork and fix everything...
