Wrong locked-DCA tab title after network connection problem

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Wrong locked-DCA tab title after network connection problem

Post by *Flint »

Here is the INI file:

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
DirTabOptions=1913
[left]
path=\\192.168.10.23\test_path\
[lefttabs]
activetab=0
activelocked=2
1st tab (inactive) is C:\
2nd tab (active, locked-DCA) is the same network path.

(If you will test this problem, of course, you'll need to specify any existing network path from your network.)

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Block your network.
2. Run TC with the INI file specified.
3. TC cannot open network drive and shows contents of the C:\ drive instead (that's normal).
4. The tab title becomes c:test_path instead of \:test_path and remains so even after restoring the connection.

Indeed this is a known limitation of the tab system which cannot currently be fixed. Maybe I can find a solution in a later release. Sorry!

Silly (?) Questions:
1) What is DCA stand for?
2) What is the difference between Locked-TAB/Locked (DCA)-TAB.
3) How can I Lock (DCA) a TAB? Right clicking on a TAB has only "Lock TAB" option (?!?)
Thanks

1. DCA > Directory change allowed
2. see 1.
3. check again and read the help, there you can even search,
f.ex. for "lock", to find the "Folder Tabs"-section:

- Lock this tabLocks a tab. You cannot change dirs on locked tabs.
- Locked, but directory changes allowed Locks a tab. Reverts to the saved dir when switching to a different tab and back,
or when clicking the root button, or when clicking on the tab header when the tab is already active. Useful e.g. to save the root of a project.

Or which TC version do you use?

2 GeorgeV [i.e. myself :D ] - I found it after I put the questions

1) DCA = Directory Change allowed
2) From TC Help file:
"...
- Lock this tab Locks a tab. You cannot change dirs on locked tabs.
- Locked, but directory changes allowed Locks a tab. Reverts to the saved dir when switching to a different tab and back, or when clicking the root button, or when clicking on the tab header when the tab is already active. Useful e.g. to save the root of a project.
..."
3) By R-click on TAB and selecting: "Lock this tab" or "Locked but Directory Change Allowed (DCA)" (there are other options too)

I also noticed the following:

"LOCK" TAB refers to its directory and NOT to its position (as I thought in the beginning)

LOCKED TAB:
1) Moving a LOCKED TAB right or left is possible.
2) Deleting a LOCKED TAB , needs confirmation.
3) When you change directory (under a locked TAB), a NEW TAB is opened with the new directory to the right of the TABS and the LOCKED TAB remains at its original position intact.

LOCKED (DCA) TAB:
1) Moving a LOCKED (DCA) TAB right or left is possible.
2) Deleting a LOCKED (DCA) TAB, needs confirmation.
3) When you change directory (under a LOCKED (DCA) TAB), the dir opens normally but the name of the TAB DOES NOT change - only the icon (if it exists) of the new dir appears before the TAB name (it seems to me as a small bug) - and if you go to a different tab or opposite panel and then back, or click on the LOCKED (DCF) TAB or the root button [\], the LOCKED (DCF) TAB reverts to its original dir.

Thank me ! :D
