TC11.3 - Lister not opening on the main screen.
I have a laptop that I regularly use connect to a dock with 2 external monitors.
Right now, I am working on it from another location where I don't have the dock so it's just the laptop. Lister seems to be opening on some other (nonexistent) screen to the right from my actual screen.
I can maximize it form task bar and then de-maximize it, but once I close it, it will again open on that other location.

You can save the position on the other screen.

I think akrijakfos's problem is that there is no other screen when the laptop is not docked and then Lister is out of view. You can save the position on the other screen.

Unfortunately I don't see any solution for this case - I would have to ignore the saved position.

Well, I suggest to ignore the saved position if and only if it does not exist in the current situation. In this case the lister should be moved to the main screen, i.e., to a position that is visible.
Once the other monitor/position is back, the saved position can be used again.

Re: TC11.3 - Lister not opening on the main screen.
You can add the line:
SameScreenAsTC=3
to the wincmd.ini section [Configuration] to show the Lister on the same screen as Total Commander.
It's a sum of:
1: Modal dialogs
2: Lister
4: Compare by content
By default it's set to 1.
The downside is that you can't save the Lister position on a different screen then.

I don't think it is possible. Try to check, if you don't have some virtual or second desktop, which is normally positioned on the second screen and where the lister is being shown. I have the same configuration (laptop with docking station and two monitors) and even if I move any window, including the lister window, out of the screen, next time I open it, it is positioned on the visible desktop.akrijakfos wrote: 2024-11-05, 10:16 UTC ... Windows shouldn't be able to open any window in the non-existing position. Once you switch the laptop to internal display only mode, you should see all windows.

Thanks, but that didn't seem to have any effect.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-11-05, 19:33 UTC You can add the line:

Is the "Configuration -> Save Position" supposed to have effect on Lister? It works for saving the position of the Total Commander's window, but Lister still keeps opening on the original spot even after I drag it somewhere else and save the position (and save the settings as well).ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-11-05, 17:10 UTC Unfortunately I don't see any solution for this case - I would have to ignore the saved position.
Nah, I don't have any virtual / second desktop solution installed. I am just on a stock version of Windows 11.macleod wrote: 2024-11-06, 05:57 UTCI don't think it is possible. Re: TC11.3 - Lister not opening on the main screen.
Oh, there's Save Position also on the Lister's menu, I somehow missed that earlier. Now it is properly saved where I positioned it at, which is an ok enough workaround for me. Thanks for pointing me to the solution.
