Imagine 0.9.0.0 ß-8 causes TC-freeze

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello All !
¤ I just updated Imagine to the last version 0.9.0.0 ß-8.
- It works normally for image-files, but hangs TC 6.51 when I try to view any other text file-type. I get the hourglass endlessly; I ought kill the TC window by Ctrl+Alt+Del :|
- It works for ICLs using the IclView plugin in Lister (a very old version).
- Whether I uninstall or simply deactive Imagine, all works again normally with F3 …
- Under Win 98 SE.
Does anyone get the same?

 Kind regards,
Claude

No problems here, haven't tested under 98, though...

I tested 0.9.0.0 beta 8 both on Windows 2000 and Windows 98.
But I couldn't find any problems.

Are there any others who also have problems?

¤ All worked fine with the previous beta 7… Now, to view a text file in Lister while Imagine is enabled causes a lock-up.
Very weird…

TC hangs the same :(

Maybe you have to change the order of your lister plugins, eg place 'text plugins' before 'image plugins' ?

Anyone tried "Shell Extension" function in Imagine?

I had it activated in beta 6 but explorer crashed when I right click.
I have the same problem with beta 8.

No text-plugin !

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello !
- This lock-up occurs with *.txt files wich do not use any text-plugin ! Any format as plain-text like *.ini, *.lng,*.mnu etc. hangs TC like I explained above.
- All these types are handled directly by TC, via its built-in Lister-functions.
- In the second PC under Win 98 SE - an old PI 166 MMX -, I downgraded to ß-7 (only the file “Imagine.DLL”), then all worked alright again !
- Hence, one can say that something goes wrong in that DLL, at least under Win 98SE Fr. with certain PCs… :|

Claude

I have Win98SE too, and no problem with any file viewed by build-in lister functions

Win French version---

Post by *Clo »

2gnozal8
:) Hello !
- Thanks for testing. But I don't think you have a French version of Win 98SE :|
- moreover, a lot of programs are installed (but not a lot of TC-plugins); only this ß-8 of “Imagine” causes this issue.
- all previous versions did not…
- Nothing more to do than to wait for the next ß-9 version, it seems :(

 Kind regards,
Claude

Hello Claude,
did you try to run the plugin isolated, i.e. as the only installed plugin?
If that works add back one plugin after the other to, that might help.
Or you could try a second vanilla TC installation in a different directory
and add plugins to it one by one to see if that makes any difference.

You never know, what can happen... (at least some guy named "Murphy" told me so) ;)

FOUND !

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello Dirk !
¤ Good idea, thanks !
¤ The “guilty” plugin causing a conflict is my "IclView", an old good version 9.5.2003.0 which never caused any trouble before ! I could verify in the two PCs, simply disabling the plugins with TC Plugman ;) (easier…)
- But we can say that this version of “Imagine” isn't quite "blue-white", since the previous ones had not the problem, while the same "IclView" was there (even before I installed the first Imagine I used).
- I have read there that the newest "IclView" has problems, so I don't wish to update it.
- With that info, I think that Nyam could solve the issue, and especially take care of this in the future versions : the ball is for him :P
{O.T. : a "miaow" from Miss Boule to Mr. Cat !}
