null sized dirs

Post by *mrbeeye »

Another interesting behavior:

(*) when press Space on nonempty directory, TC counts used space and shows a number,
(*) when press Space on empty directory, TC shows nothing,
(*) when press Space on directory which I have no permission(s) for accessing (on NTFS), TC shows nothing.

I think TC should:
(*) show 0 when empty and accessible directory
(*) show nothing when not accessible directory

The difference is that <Dir> can be non-empty, if TC could not determine its size for some reason. So, it's better to know, if the size is real 0, or if the size is unknown and can be arbitrary.
I support the idea too!

I sympathize with this request because the current feedback is ambiguous.

A mark?

:) Hello !
I think TC should:
(*) show 0 when empty and accessible directory
(*) show nothing when not accessible directory
¤ I support your idea in the principle.
¤ I guess that TC could display a specific mark when the access is not allowed, in example : <!>

 Kind regards,
Claude

Disappointed. Not solved in 6.54Beta1.

I don't consider this as a bug - your suggestion is a new feature, and v7 is mainly meant as a bugfix release. Maybe in v7...

Simply use the dirsizecalc plug-in instead which provides all this information.

DirSizeCalc displays "not available" for not accessable directories.

If you introduce this in Tc 7.0, may you make it optional?. Thanks.

I'm sorry, <dir> is currently stored as '0' size in the file structure, therefore TC cannot distinguish between the two.
