[Req] More user-friendly Background Transfer Manager
This feature (BTM) is very important for TotalCmd.
But unfortunately it is not such convinient. For example:
- Speed limit could be more comfortable.
- Minus button acts with selection and there is always risk to delete some item on top/bottom which is not shown.
- There is not enough information about the items in the list and they are invariable.
But there are some more important things:
1. I would like to have possibility to reorder the items in the list.
2. From my experience I know that if any error has occurred then all queue will be cleared. For example I spent several hours to find some useful files from all computers in the LAN and one of them goes offline. All my work of selecting files will be lost.

I'm agree with Laplace, but the problem:
The "Add to download list" present only for FTP transfers can be made available for networks or even local files (thinking in multi partition HDD reorganization of movies or music
).
...could have as a workaround, a more simple improvement to BTM:For example I spent several hours to find some useful files from all computers in the LAN and one of them goes offline. All my work of selecting files will be lost.

This has already been fixed now for the next release. The BTM will just go into paused mode when the user clicks the abort button in a file operation. Re-ordering is on my to do list too, but it's not done yet.if any error has occurred then all queue will be cleared

May be bitt OT, but will you implement two issues I mentioned in new release e.g. v7?
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8621&highlight=
and
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8157&highlight=
Addition to metioned items.
Perhaps add options for as little user operation as possible. It realy bugs me that for every problem, windows pops up that pauses/brakes operation... Some errors are ok to pause operation, e.g. not enough space, but this error should not fail operation.
Yust pop up winodw at the end of operation... Some sort of log saying which queue items faild and which were ok, time stamps would be nice also
And if possible, save queue items to file
TC should be more flexible here.
Laplace, you have my vote on this topic.
Thanks,
FrenKy

Just for your information, I have now added sorting by drag&drop with the mouse.

little bit OT, but when you mentioned manual sorting, is it possible to add the same for list in "Connect to ftp server" dialog? Only way how to sort servers over there is to prefix them by number or letter that will define order....ghisler(Author) wrote:Just for your information, I have now added sorting by drag&drop with the mouse.

Sorry, this list is always sorted by name - I would have to drop this feature then...

yes, I expected that. Ok if you do not want to give up that sorting, could you do me a favor and just put into .ini file possibility to turn off that sorting by name and read those FTP servers in order as they are defined in wcx_ftp.ini? I would really appreciate that. By default there will be current functionality, all you have to do just based on parameter in .ini you will switch off that sorting.ghisler(Author) wrote:Sorry, this list is always sorted by name - I would have to drop this feature then...
