Hi Bluestar,

Consider the problem fixed. Using 0.8.6.4 and blocking totalcmd.net using my hosts file, the proper message "Error: Host (totalcmd.net) cannot be found" is now displayed.

Hi Bluestar,

In 0.8.6.5 the previous issue with "Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window" has returned, now even without command line parameter. When I set PrcMsgOnLoad key to false, things continue to work properly again.

@EricB:
Hi,

That's pretty strange, since I haven't modified anything regarding these specific fixes at all; these few improvements included in this 0.8.6.5 bugfix version shouldn't cause such approach.
Maybe these kind of problems haven't been completely eliminated from the previous versions in the teeth of all the effort made?

May I ask if your TotalUpdater.ini file contains some other user-defined option beside "PrcMsgOnLoad=True"?

I just tried to reproduce the problem using my configuration / even with a clean ini by setting the PrcMsgOnLoad set to true with cmdline parameters "/autostart" and "/safe" - without any success, works fine there...

Well, I did not add much lately, I'm using this ini after configuring it with the TU GUI somewhere in the past. Should I send it to you for analysis?

Yes please, I'd greatly appreciate the file so I could analyze it thoroughly.
Btw I added some extra checks and reuploaded the latest package to totalcmd.net, but I really wonder if thats gonna help to resolve the problem...

The file has already been sent to your dev account. Meanwhile, I'll check if the re-upped version shows the same.

I did not get the error using the newest version. However, restoring the previous version (only the exe) now also did not show the error... Maybe a combination of settings?

2Bluestar

in case no one suggested this yet i would suggest some additional commandline switches

- A switch that automatically starts downloading + installing the updates

- A switch that tells TU to exit after finishing installation

maybe an option to automatically close TU after updating in the UI would also be nice. It would save some clicks.

But again: great work so far... it has never been so easy to keep a tool with a lot of plugins up to date like it is with TU! i really like it.

Would you like to add support of 3rd party programs that uses Total Commander plugins? I think it will be good idea and also very useful. Double Commander is great but it uses XML format for storing configuration. Also it will be nice to update WLX plugins of Universal Viewer - it uses INI format for configuration.

FYI: Total Updater 0.8.6.7 doesn't see 8.50RC1 as > 8.50

Total Updater 0.8.6.7 doesn't see TC 8.50RC1 as greater than TC 8.50B15,
missing RC > Beta logic.

Just learned about and used you program. :D

Very handy indeed !!!

I had several plugins out of date.

Thanks for all your efforts.

@seb-:
Those suggested switches are going to be introduced in the next version, thanks for suggesting them.

@EagleXK:
Thanks for your suggestion, such a feature could be implemented - I'm going to consider it.

@papa_san:
Thanks! :) Glad you like the utility.

I just checked if it really is the case, but for me TU correctly recognizes the difference between BETA and RC state, and shows RC as latest if available.
[ screenshot - TU using a test server ]

However, I'm not sure if you're aware that Mr. Ghisler hasn't yet updated the download/whatsnew pages on ghisler.com - the source sites TU analyzes to get the latest version of Total Commander - so B15 still shows up as the latest one. Can't really do anything about it, as it is going to work fine as soon as (at least) one of these files gets updated on the ghisler.com host.

My bad,

I thought the program would see the RC1 as soon as I did, but of course it waits for its appearance via the correct channels.

It all makes sense now.

Thanks again :-)

I have the problem that when I update totalcmd itself, the files are copied to the C root!

Is it advisable to run the update with the question to install or update the current installation?

I run the X64 version on Win7 x64

The installer simply uses the last location chosen by the user...
