Rapid Selection of Directories: Size disappears

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Rapid Selection of Directories: Size disappears

Post by *jensp »

A hard to describe and hard to reproduce error:

Often (not every single time, alas) you will encounter the following behaviour:
If you have a couple of subdirs in a directory listing which do contain data and you mark those directories quickly by pressing the space bar
a) the directory gets marked (ok)
b) the directory size is displayed instead of "dir" (ok)
c) the cursor moves to the next entry (ok)
d) after the fourth of fifth selection the size entry of all marked subdirectories (a to c) above the current entry inside the ext-Column is replaced by "Dir" (bug)

I'll try tonight to record that behaviour.

Kind regards

Jens

BTW: My favorite filemanager which i use since 3.x - great tool, congrats!

Cannot reproduce. Possibly, you are doing something in the background that change the contents of the folder you are working in; and if in TC the WatchDirs feature is turned on, it refreshes the contents and resets the counted sizes...

Hi,

Can't reproduce here either.
You also say "c) the cursor moves to the next entry (ok)", this does not happen at my system. If I press space it marks the directory and shows the size yet the cursor doe not go to the next entry.
What view are you using? Full View?

Greetings.

wincmd.ini, [Configuration], SpaceMovesDown=1

Multiple ways to reproduce this bug! With or without Spacebar.
No "WatchDirs" or "SpaceMovesDown" in INI.

cm_SwitchDirSort in menu is unchecked (Sort directories by name/date)
cm_CountDirContent using from menu (or ALT+SHIFT+Enter)
ALT+Enter (or contextmenu: "Properties") on any file/folder
-sortorder "Size" is lost
-the directory size is replaced with <DIR>
-marking lost

Indeed something must be causing TC to refresh the directory list - something must be changing in the directory.
